About Miss Read Alot
My pseudonym is Ayden and I am a voracious reader, a dabbling writer and a glutton for all things romance. I am a graduate student and an aunt. I work in the educational field, have a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology, and eat, sleep and breathe all things knowledge. I am a very compassionate, very outspoken and very independent person. You will, undoubtedly, learn more about me as we go along. For now, that’s foundation enough ![]()
This blog will contain book reviews, writing related discussions, and general romance related posts. I am not an expert. I am not published. Nor am I inexperienced. My goal is to explore the world of writing from a new direction.
The book reviews I post here will not be typical “the book is about this and it is/isn’t worth the read.” In each review, I will focus on something specific within that story or with that author; be it something about character development that made me think, the use of a specific theme, idea, word or event that irks me or amazes me, or even an emotion that I found particularly well (or not so well) written. Nor will I especially recommend a specific title. My philosophy is that every book, even if I didn’t particularly enjoy it, should be given a chance because, regardless of how poorly written a book may be, there is, undoubtedly, something to learn through the reading of that book.
I should also mention here that not every book I review here will be a new release. In fact, quite a few of them will be no such thing. Classics, contemporary classics, current titles, titles from 20 years ago and even those titles I discovered in the bargain bin will each have a place here. Romance, of course, will typically have more of a place than any other. And historical and/or paranormal romance will likely have the strongest showing here.
Writing related posts will deal with everything from the rules of writing to things I have learned in the course of writing to where to find information about a specific topic to what I know about a specific topic. As I mentioned previously, I’m by no means an expert. But, you can be assured that what I post I have researched, have studied in some depth for some reason, or have learned the hard way. When the information isn’t my own, it will be referenced so that you might find the source to review it for yourself.
I hope you’ll come to enjoy your visits here and will check back frequently, add your own thoughts and opinions or simply stop by and say hello.
Always,
Miss Read Alot.
